As Carmen’s Events continued to gain traction in the Houston community, I began hosting monthly Event Planning Seminars. These were free community events that I had advertised on EventBrite. The goal was to share the knowledge I had gathered with event planners who were either new to the industry or who wanted to improve their skills. We often had guest speakers with a range of experiences but during the month of April I presented to the class what I had learned about technology in the event planning space.
Still today, many event planners utilize paper and notebooks for event planning. Which, to be fair, is an incredibly valuable asset in brainstorming, task planning, and sharing ideas with your clients. The goal however of using technology in event planning is to reduce to overhead and to better involve your clients in the process. Using tools like a CRM can ensure the process is uniform, well organized, and not susceptible to loss due to water damage, fire, etc. Additional tools such as digital marketing and event builders can even give your clients a 3D look into seating charts, catering buffet setups, and more.
